The inviting nose here is concentrated with cherry, cranberry and strawberry with accents of caramel, dried rose petals and saddle leather. Beautifully complex, the palate is layered with minerality and smoked meat, complemented by cinnamon and cardamom. Lively acidity balances the mid palate and the level of tannins on this wine is pleasantly surprising, as it gives the wine depth and length on the finish. This Clos de Vougeot, while still rather massive now, is ready to drink, but another 2-3 years will help the wine develop even more. Drink from 2013.
