This historic estate has been on a qualitative tear of late, and their 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon is, once again, the “Chateau Margaux of Napa Valley.” Beautiful black currant and spring flower aromas jump from the glass of this dark opaque ruby/purple-colored beauty. With gorgeous texture, stunning purity, elegance and equilibrium, with nothing out of place, this is another tour de force from Spottswoode. Despite its current accessibility, it has 15-20 years of longevity ahead of it. It is a glorious wine! - Robert Parker

Elegant and stylish with pure rich vibrant and focused black cherry and blackberry fruit that's supple and polished. The aromas capture the ripe berry fruit adding a pretty floral array and the tannins are firm yet fine-grained. Long and persistent on the finish. One of the best from Spottswoode in recent memory. Best from 2008 through 2016. 1532 cases made

Boysenberry, blackberry, violet, dark chocolate and licorice on the slightly high-toned nose; superripe yet floral and lively. A lovely supple, seamless midweight with serious inky lift to its black fruit and violet flavors. Finishes with serious but suave tannins, a hint of game and outstanding length. An excellent, very ripe vintage for Spottswoode, which declassified a lot of fruit picked during the early September heat wave.
