Wine Spectator, June 2008
Reminiscent of a big old-fashioned California Zinfandel with dark ripe fruit flavors and a hint of volatility as the finish keeps ringing. Drink this with a hearty chunk of rare roast. Drink now through 2014. 2200 cases... Reminiscent of a big old-fashioned California Zinfandel with dark ripe fruit flavors and a hint of volatility as the finish keeps ringing. Explosively perfumed bouquet of jammy cherry and blackberry anise pastille vanilla bean and pungent herbs. Pliant dark berry flavors offer a striking blend of depth and energy with slow-building tannins adding an impression of structure. Nicely balanced for such an opulent wine finishing with excellent thrust and lift. This hits pretty much every nook and cranny of the palate but shows no undue weight or lack of vivacity.
