The 2005 Barolo Brunate offers lovely richness in its sweet perfumed red fruits leather spices and French oak. This is an especially graceful Brunate from Ceretto that dances on the palate showing gorgeous balance and poise. The finish is long sweet and harmonious with the fruit offering lovely density to balance the tannins. In short this is a beautiful effort from Ceretto. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025. -AG

Good medium red. Deeply pitched smoky aromas of redcurrant truffle tobacco and dried flowers. Deeper and sweeter than the Zonchera with more breadth and finesse of texture. Deeper and sweeter than the Zonchera with more breadth and finesse of texture. A hint of camphor leavens the wine's sweetness. I like the persistent rising finish which features nicely ripe tannins for the year. 91(+?) points

Additional aromatic complexity is evidenced by nuances of cedary tobacco leaf notes. The palate is medium weight yet firm showcasing a tannic grippy style and a core of youthful fruit. On the palate the fruit nuances echo the aromatics and also include orange peel cinnamon and clove. Well made still youthful and with a few years ahead of it the 2005 Bricco Rocche is certainly one of the top wines of the vintage.
