Much like the two above Meursaults, the 2005 Clos de la Barre has benefited from the additional gras of the vintage, and is showing stunningly fine out of the blocks. The bouquet is deep, complex and compelling, as it offers up notes of apple, coconut, spring flowers, crème patissière, minerals and a gentle framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and racy, with great depth of fruit coupled to absolutely stunning minerality, laser-like focus, huge structure for Clos de la Barre, and great length and grip on the long, minerally finish. A brilliant vintage for this wine.
