A very deft and subtle touch of wood frames the ripe floral plum and darker pinot fruit aromas that introduce intense powerful and also mineral-driven full-bodied flavors that sacrifice no sense of detail or balance on the terrifically long pure and mouth coating finish. This is a serious wine that is clearly built for the very long haul yet there is a lovely and sophisticated mouth feel. It will need at least a decade in the cellar and should easily last for 30+ years if properly stored.

Displaying more of a sweet fruit character than is usual for young wine of its appellation the Drouhin 2005 Corton Bressandes smells of plum mace and beef marrow. In the mouth a tactile chalk dust crushed stone impression and sweet florality link to bright intense fresh plum and black raspberry for a surprisingly extroverted almost extravagant (not to forget persistent) display.-David Schildknecht
