Tasted single blind at Southwold. The La Dame -05 is introspective and disjointed on the nose with moderate definition. There are aromas of blackberry, damson and a touch of fig but I am sure that aeration would make this blossom. Lighter chassis here, fine tannins but rather conservative and foursquare. Earthy, pain grille, a little graphite, nice definition on the finish but it could do with more stuffing. Give it time to reopen. Drink 2013-2020.

The 2005 La Dame de Montrose is a gorgeous second wine. Dark ruby/purple, with sweet black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, soft tannins, and a round, generous, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, it is an excellent, soft wine to drink over the next 15 or so years. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
