The 2005 Malbec Reserva was fermented with native yeasts and aged in seasoned French oak for 12 months. A saturated purple color it has a fragrant nearly exotic perfume of cedar vanilla lavender blueberry compote and black cherry. This is followed by a firm deep wine in which notes of mineral espresso and chocolate emerge on the palate to accompany the bundles of black fruit. The silky tannins are nicely integrated and the wine has a long 45-second finish. Although it will evolve in the bottle for 3-5 years this superb Malbec can be enjoyed now and over the next 12-15 years.
