From a parcel in Les Chalandins, not far south of the Clos Vougeot, Perrot-Minot’s 2005 Vosne Romanee offers cumin-, game-, and smoke-tinged blueberries, black cherry and cassis in the nose and on a palate of invigorating brightness of clear, fresh fruit yet nocturnal, decadent shadings, finishing with dark berry, cherry pit, humus, charred meat and chalk. This positively exudes polish and refinement, not to mention the mysteries that make “Vosne Romanee” a magical name – but at village level seldom such a magical taste. - David Schildknecht
