A brilliant effort this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is one of the Fronsac appellation's standard bearers (Fontenil Moulin-Haut-Laroque and La Vieille Cure being the others). A sleeper of the vintage the 2006 Haut-Carles exhibits sweet blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with notions of flowers crushed rocks and spice. Surprisingly full-bodied and powerful with impressive concentration and length it can be enjoyed during its first 15 plus years of life.
