From vines averaging 40 years of age the Raveneau 2006 Chablis Montee de Tonerre features ripe pineapple lychee grapefruit and brown spices; piquant pithy yet deeply sweet nuttiness; an almost tactile sense of chalk dust; formidable sheer density; and a brothy richness that can only be compared with a bone-rich meat stock reduction. It finishes with citric brightness richness of fruit and profundity of minerality and should reward up to 10-12 years of cellaring.

Bright yellow with a green tinge. Cool aromas of crushed stone citrus peel and white flowers. Dense sweet and minerally but quite youthfully closed and strict today showing none of the honeyed character of the 2006... Bright yellow with a green tinge. Cool aromas of crushed stone citrus peel and white flowers. Dense sweet and minerally but quite youthfully closed and strict today showing none of the honeyed character of the 2006 vintage. In fact this broad rich wine boasts terrific verve and finishes with palate-staining citrus and stone flavors. This is 13% natural alcohol with four grams per liter of acidity. It will be fascinating to compare this and the more austere 2005 a decade or so down the road.

A gentle touch of wood highlights airy yet slightly riper high-toned and admirably pure aromas of white flower pear and quinine that gives way to supple sweet mouth coating and impressively concentrated flavors that exude... A gentle touch of wood highlights airy yet slightly riper high-toned and admirably pure aromas of white flower pear and quinine that gives way to supple sweet mouth coating and impressively concentrated flavors that exude a marvelous intensity on the long powerful and driving finish supported by a solid acid spine. Definitely worth a look if you can find it but unlike most '06s be prepared to have at least some patience as this is unusually firm for the vintage.
