Ripe black cherry and cassis mingled with herbs and leather scent the 2006 Nuits-St.-Georges Clos des Porrets St.-Georges. A complex though hard-to-pin-down sense of things mineral and carnal accompanies this wine's sweetly rich black fruits across a silken palate and faintly medicinal herbal black tea iodine cardamom and bitter fruit pit notes add intrigue to a long dynamic finish.. A silken texture and refined tannins again present the option to relish this for its generosity now or at any time over at minimum the next 7-9 years.-David Schildknecht

That said, with some extended aeration, this is not a bad drink today! The deep and pure bouquet offers up scents of sweet dark berries, hints of the pomegranate to come, French roast, a touch of red curry, a beautiful base of soil tones, a dollop of graphite, fresh herbs, roasted venison and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with fine focus and grip, moderate tannins and a very long, complex and soil-driven finish. A lovely vintage of Clos de Porrets.

A relatively elegant and surprisingly high-toned floral-infused red and blue pinot fruit nose is in keeping with the brooding intense and vibrant medium full-bodied flavors that finish with a certain chewiness and moderate amounts of this wine's hallmark youthful austerity supported by a firmly tannic spine that will require 8 to 10 years to soften sufficiently to enjoy this.

Good deep bright red. Very ripe aromas of cherry and menthol. The red fruit flavors show an almost jammy character following the 2007s but this rich sweet lush wine boasts more density and structure. The red fruit flavors show an almost jammy character following the 2007s but this rich sweet lush wine boasts more density and structure. Finishes rather powerful and long with substantial ripe tannins reaching the front teeth. 90(+?) points

Dark cherry cranberry and cassis dominate a compelling nose with subtle notes of wild herbs and earth adding complexity. Rich lush and medium-to-full bodied on the palate the dark red fruit is supported by ample tannins allowing this wine beautiful and sturdy structure. The finish is long and elegant with the fruit lingering on the palate almost endlessly. This is excellent Burgundy that should be an eye-opener for drinkers of new world pinot noir as well.
