The 2006 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé is comprised of a blend this year of seventy percent pinot noir and thirty percent chardonnay. Of the seventy percent pinot noir, twelve percent of this is still red wine, all hailing from the village of Bouzy. The wine is pure and classy on both the nose and palate, with the utterly refined bouquet wafting from the glass in a blend of cherries, blood orange, chalky minerality, a touch of clove-like spice tones, dried rose petals, rye bread and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off superb mid-palate depth, with elegant mousse, bright acids and laser-like focus on the long and superbly complex finish. This is drinking beautifully today, but will have no difficulty aging long and gracefully as well.
