The Zind-Humbrecht 2006 Riesling Brand Vendange Tardive – from the densely granitic Steinglitz portion of this cru – smells of chamomile, lily, iris, quince jelly, and white peach preserves; comes to the palate creamy, delicate (at barely over 12% alcohol), and strikingly juicy, and finishes with a sense of transparency to floral and saline, crystalline mineral nuance, an exuberant buoyancy, a purity of botrytis, and a sheer sense of refreshment that are rare in any vendange tardive, much less one from this vintage. I suspect this will evolve gloriously for two decades, but don’t miss out on it now! - David Schildknecht
