An elegant, pure, ripe, cool and layered nose of primarly red pinot fruit that has added depth in the form of Gevrey style earth notes as well as subtle underbrush and a smoky character that precedes the mineral and soil-driven medium full-bodied flavors that retain a fine sense of detail and verve on the long, complex and palate staining finish. This doesn't quite have the sheer depth of material as say the Bonnes Mares or the Bèze but it's not far off and I particularly admire the underlying sense of tension.

Vibrant fruit gives this a modern feel, completely saturating the substantial new oak treatment it received. The red fruit-skin tannin matches the oak tannin, together sparking an explosion of flavor. Oak sweetens it as a young wine, and for now, it's the sort of powerful red that comes to you without compelling you to explore its nuances. It may well develop nuance with age, and in any event, it is delicious.
