From over 50 year old vines in a high-elevation dimple a short way below his La Garenne - and his last-harvested wine of the vintage - Boudot's 2007 Puligny-Montrachet Hameau de Blagny displays a ravishing diversity of floral perfume and herbal high notes; mingles briny, alkaline minerality with ripe peach and citrus on a bright, firm palate; and finishes with refined, focused, shimmering, and persistent projection of its many, just-described dimensions. With more primary juicy generosity and lift - as well as stronger perfume - than the La Garenne, this should be well worth following for at least 6-8 years. There were a mere 5 barrels of it - in contrast with the relatively plentiful Sauzet La Garenne - but Boudot is keen on the potential of the site and has acquired another parcel beginning with the 2009 harvest. Those whose personal vinous ideals - like mine - are formed by Riesling will find this athletically lean wine even more delightful than my score suggests.

(from 50+ year old vines). An ever-so-slightly riper nose of lemon zest, white flower and lime marries into nicely rich yet detailed, racy, pure and intense mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that finish with a lovely mouth feel and fine length on a finale that really stains the palate. Clearly a wine of altitude.
