A Catherine Peré-Vergé/Rolland wine. Mid crimson with a pale rim. Some complexity on the nose – and some real warmth. Lively with a fruity core. Lively with a fruity core. Real life to this and the fruit almost completely disguises some pretty dry, sandy tannins. Picked 30 Sep and 1 Oct. One of last on the plateau, we are told. 17+/20

Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Le Gay has a slightly smudged bouquet of mulberry, singed leather and hung game notes, seeming to have dispensed with some of its energy since I last tasted it... The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannin and certainly has more to offer than the aromatics: small dark cherries, sage, marmalade and truffle emerging towards the finish. It begins in modest fashion but finishes with some aplomb. Tasted February 2017. - Neal Martin

Lovely mineral driven aromas of crushed fruit raspberry blackberry and mocha. Nice and round going in and remains soft and plush all the way through its expressive and delightful finish. Well balanced everything is in place with nothing out of place. Pure velvet and beautifully textured. Winner winner chicken dinner.
