Dried fruits with hints of coffee bean and cedar. Full body with silky tannins and a tangy, savoury, complex, succulent finish. Almost salty character, with ripe fruits. Drink or hold.

Fuligni’s 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva captures the richness of the vintage while maintaining plenty of classicism in its structure. Tar, smoke, tobacco, savory herbs and incense emerge from the exotic, highly expressive bouquet. Layers of red fruit build effortlessly through to a deeply resonant finish. The 2007 has wonderful richness, but at the same time, it is clearly holding back some of its significant potential. Overall, this is one of the best of the 2007 Riservas, even if it falls a bit short of being truly viscerally thrilling. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027. 94+ - Antonio Galloni

Still deeply-colored, the 2007 continues to grow with time in bottle. Rose petals, sweet tobacco, mint, juicy cherries and pomegranate abound in a dark, voluptuous wine endowed with tons of depth and pure richness. This is a fabulous showing.

Rich and dense, with cherry, black currant and cedar flavors covering the solid grip of tannins. Still closed down, yet there's freshness on the finish, with fruit and spice accents. Best from 2016 through 2032. – BS

Vibrant, enticing aromas of red cherry, redcurrant, minerals, cinnamon and aromatic herbs. Fresh and clean, with ripe flavors of red cherry, aromatic herbs and sandalwood carrying through to a long, bright, flinty finish. Smooth tannins and zippy acidity extend the flavors on the back. Sneaky concentration here--and a good deal fresher than many other 2007 riserve. Anyone who loves minerally, graceful Brunellos has to try Fuligni's wines. 92+

Maturing mid ruby with orange rim. understated nose that is not open by far. Packed with fruit on the palate, but still very very young. Great tannic frame and acidity. A touch of that hot-vintage candied fruit. 17/20 (WS)

Fuligni

Fuligni is a family-owned estate on the eastern side of Montalcino. The vines, which extend over ten hectares, are primarily located at Cottimelli with altitudes varying from 1,250 to 1,500 feet. Average age of the vines is about twelve years with some dating back more than thirty years. The estate’s four vineyards are planted with Sangiovese, complemented by a small portion of Merlot.

The Fuligni range consists of the regular Brunello, a Brunello Riserva, a Rosso (Ginestreto), and an IGT Toscana made from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot.
