90+ In 2007, Jacques Lardière and his team were very strict with their sorting of the grapes prior to fermentation, and thus the production of the les Baudes was quite small and the percentage of new wood was a bit higher (fifty percent) in the finished wine than is customary with this bottling. Despite the slightly higher amount of new wood, the wine showed virtually no signs of oak when tasted in March of 2010, as the wine offers up a really lovely nose of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, a lovely base of soil tones and a nice touch of fresh herbs in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-full, deep and nicely reserved, with fine mid-palate depth, well-integrated tannins and lovely length and focus on the still quite primary finish. A lovely example of the village and the vintage in the making, the 2007 les Baudes will need six or seven years to blossom.
