Dry as dust and very tannic this Cabernet simply isn't ready for prime time yet. It's tightly wound and tough and resists breaking down. But there are plenty of blackberries tucked deep inside. Bright ruby-red. Aromas of cassis pungent graphite minerality and menthol lifted by a violet topnote. Dry broad and ripe with lovely lift to the flavors of plum currant and minerals. Dry broad and ripe with lovely lift to the flavors of plum currant and minerals. Not as sexy at this stage as some past vintages of this bottling but perhaps more squeaky-clean. This nicely lush wine finishes with fine-grained tannins. From a blend of Coombsville and Howell Mountain fruit. The winery used a vibrating table for the first time in 2007 and winemaker McMahon noted that this facilitated the elimination of grapes affected by mildew.

A gorgeous nose offers blackberry cassis vanilla and black licorice. The wine is very silky and broad on the palate as a touch of cola red raspberry mocha and subtle oak linger into a long clean finish where vibrant acidity and velvety tannins are well integrated. Drink now with an hour or two in a decanter and over the next 10 years.
