Medium in body yet irresistibly opulent the 2007 Montevertine presents a rich fabric of red fruit framed by silky impossibly fine tannins. Unlike the 2006 which was much firmer at this stage the 2007 is ripe open and beautifully accessible. Readers who prefer more tertiary nuance will undoubtedly want to cellar this but opening a bottle now is far from a crime. The wine's inner perfume and gorgeous balance render it highly enjoyable even today. Montevertine is Sangiovese with a dash of Canaiolo and Colorino. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2027.

Wonderfully floral pure aromas of sour red cherry cranberry and violet. Bright and minerally on entry then tight and youthfully acidic in the middle with hints of marzipan fresh red berries and citrus fruits. Boasts an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and a firm tannic spine finishing juicy and bright with a crunchy texture and noteworthy precision. This exceptional wine explodes with perfume and flavor. Even better than the great 2001 this is a true monument to the greatness that can be achieved by sangiovese blended with canaiolo nero.

A very jammy and juicy red with dried dark fruits and plum sauce. Full and velvety. A little overdone in some ways but I like its vibrancy very much. Sangiovese Canaiolo and Colorino. Best after 2011. 2500 cases made.
