Firm tannins backward nice weight on the middle building towards some lovely pure dark fruits on the sappy finish. This Pinot improves the longer it stays in the mouth so give a year in bottle. Sexy perfume of cherry raspberry woodsmoke and underbrush; this reminded me a bit of a northern Rhone syrah. Then rich chewy and dry on the palate with a pliant texture but more saline soil tones showing today than sweet primary fruits. Finishes smoky and long with good fat.

With air it evolves to show deeper fruit. A classic Martinborough style flavors tend toward the sauvage with dark cherry spice and meaty notes. Bright and broad on the mid-palate this is still youthful with fresh acidity while spicy tannin provides support and structure. Drink now with stews and grilled steaks or cellar for another 3-4 years.
