The 2007 Chianti Classico Castello di Brolio offers up rich textured dark fruit in a succulent style that is very appealing. French oak gives the Castello di Brolio notable volume and body in addition to an attractive smokiness that works quite nicely in this vintage. The Castello di Brolio can be enjoyed today for its forward fruit or cellared for another decade or so. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. -Antonio Galloni

This is a Chianti Classico that has aged gracefully and hides the warmth of the vintage quite well. The nose is expressive with notes of black cherry, chocolate and spice, leading into more lifted red fruits and a floral component. There is a richness to the wine showing dark chocolate, licorice and maraschino cherry which are underscored by savory notes of grilled herbs and tobacco. Exhibits a lovely, open texture and is still fresh and vibrant. With 12 years of age this is showing really quite well, retaining a fresh youthfulness to a refreshing degree, but the tannins have really integrated nicely giving a softer, rounded profile. This is a pleasure to drink now, yet has staying power to enjoy over the next 3-5 years.
