This is a surprisingly large-scaled intense Brunello from Talenti. Sweet red berries flowers mint and tobacco flesh out in this pliant deeply expressive wine. The 2007 turns more layered floral and finessed on the finish. Talenti gave the 2007 30 months in oak 60% French oak tonneaux and 40% Slavonian oak casks. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. --- Antonio Galloni

Aromas of citrus flowers and fresh raspberries follow through to a full body with super fine tannins and a long caressing finish. Lively acidity and backbone for the vintage. Very fine indeed.

Floral and peppery high notes lift aromas of raspberry dried herbs leather and earth on the complex rather Burgundian nose. Saline tactile ripe and concentrated with nuanced flavors of raspberry minerals and musky underbrush. Finishes with ripe chewy tannins and excellent rising length. A note of raspberry liqueur emerges at the end but the wine maintains its sappy character. Superb Brunello and a worthy follow-up to the outstanding 2006.

Label

Talenti Brunello di Montalcino is the red wine which constitutes the “heart” of the Talenti winery. Since 1981, it’s been produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in the winery’s best vineyard blocks.

After careful vinification, the wine matures in oak barrels (26 and 18 hl) with a small percentage aging in 500 liter tonneaus for two and a half years. 12 months aging in the bottle follow before release.

Winery

Talenti

The Talenti Winery is situated in the south of Montalcino, not far from the small medieval borough of S. Angelo in Colle. The winery was established in 1980 by Pierluigi Talenti who had fallen in love with the fascinating property and grounds, and decided to leave the mountains of his native Romagna for the sweet and sunny hills of Montalcino.

The winery now owns a total of 40 hectares, about 21 of which are vineyards. Sixteen of the hectares are Sangiovese. The remaining five hectares hold a mix of varieties such as Colorino, Canaiolo, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet. The vines grow in a rocky soil of medium density at an altitude of about 650 to 400 feet.

Since 1999, the winery has been managed by Pierluigi’s grandson Riccardo Talenti who continues his family’s work with the same dedication and passion of the past years. Experience and thorough research of new technologies combined with a healthy respect for tradition allowed the winery to reach the high levels of quality it enjoys today.
