The 2007 Cotes du Rhones Lieu-Dit Clavin red is one of the finest wines of the appellation. From an extraordinarily old vine parcel planted just in front of the winery its dense purple color is followed by abundant berry fruit licorice earth and meat characteristics. Fresh lively and medium-bodied it remains unevolved despite its beautiful fruit and length. I suspect it will merit at least an outstanding score when it has finished its elevage.
