Bright clear colour; the bouquet is by some margin the most fragrant and aromatic bringing both red and black fruits into play the intense silky palate coursing majestically to a long lingering finish red and black fruits echoing throughout.

Terrifically mineral. Landmark Australian pinot noir. Toasty spicy savoury and intense - but then from the mid-palate onwards it turns all aristocratic pulling long and fine and boney. What gorgeous shape this wine has. It has an array of fruit/berried flavours and complexity studded throughout. Length is not an issue. Just a ripper.

The 2008 Block 5 Pinot Noir is finer and more expressive. Displaying a pale to medium ruby color it has slightly funky wild ferment aromas over a core of freshly crushed strawberries balsamic cinnamon and espresso plus a whiff of bacon. The medium to full bodied palate is very impressive giving a good balance of crisp acidity concentrated complex fruit and earth flavors a medium level of silky tannins and a long finish. This can be enjoyed now though it will continue to give pleasure to 2015+. -Lisa Perrotti-Brown
