94+ The 2008 le Bourg is currently quite shut down and is best left alone in a cool corner of the cellar for the next eight to ten years, but it will be an outstanding wine when it starts to stir. The bouquet is reserved, but also deep and pure, offering up scents of cassis, grilled meats, toasty oak, a touch of creosote, dark soil tones and cigar ash. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and very deep at the core, with excellent soil signature underneath its new wood component, lovely focus and balance, ripe tannins and a very, very long, nascently complex and promising finish.
