The Dagueneau 2008 Blanc Fume de Pouilly smells of lemon and caraway which along with nettle chalk and salt make for an invigorating bright whistle clean and handsomely lean expose of its grape and terroir. This sends shivers up my spine though it will no doubt be a bit too lean and bracing for some tasters. It should serve well for at least the next 2-3 years. -David Schildknecht

Incredibly pale lemon yellow in color. With aromas of lemon and lime gooseberry flint and freshly cut grass the nose almost reminds me of a Bordeaux Blanc with mostly sauvignon blanc but with more higher toned fruit. The mid palate shows a roundness that that nose does not reveal but still offers classic Dagueneau's bracing acidity. Loads of citrus emerges on the palate with a hint of fresh new oak and extremely light vanilla. Beautiful massive complex and long with a finish that goes well into the next sip. A rather incredible and unique profile typical of the producer rather than the region.
