(92+) The 2008 Clos des Ambres is 12.2 percent in alcohol this year, and the energy, purity and mineral drive that the wine delivers at this octane is truly stunning. The bouquet is a beautiful mélange of orange zest, apple, gentle notes of hazelnut, iodine and truly striking minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very complex, with great focus and balance, lovely mid-palate depth and excellent length on the racy and transparent finish. A really fine bottle of Meursault. (Drink between 2012-2030)

(88-91) This offers more power and concentration but less elegance and refinement than the Petits Charrons. A very fresh nose of hazelnut and ripe orchard fruit aromas complements rich, full and vibrant medium weight plus flavors that possess excellent volume but also reasonably good detail on the seductively textured finish that is both cool and notably dry.

(17.5/20) There’s an extra dimension of richness on this wine. Very fine boned and mineral too, really exciting. Very long. Hand sculpted. This parcel was particularly badly hailed.

Full, broad and rich but quite dry and backward, with a pronounced stony quality. Like the regular village wine, this struck me as riesling-like and in need of at least a couple years of patience. Ente says the r.s. here is a very low 0.7 grams per liter.
