(94+) I had loved the 2009 Martray Corton-Charlemagne out of barrel last year and I was really happy to have the opportunity to re-taste it out of bottle. The wine is every bit as fine today as it was a year ago and is another stellar vintage for this superb wine. The nose offers up a fine mélange of lemon, apple, orange, acacia blossoms, lovely, stony minerality and a customary deft touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and racy, with lovely, ripe fruit on the attack really buried in the girdle of acidity of the wine, laser-like focus and beautiful structure driving the wine on the long and snappy finish. Another absolutely brilliant vintage of Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne. Today it is absolutely impossible to pick a winner between these two young and very promising young vintages.
