One of La Dominique's best efforts over recent years their opaque purple-hued 2008 reveals copious quantities of sweet blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with licorice roasted herbs and spice. It is a full-bodied opulent St.-Emilion with sweet tannin and a layered expansive mouthfeel. This big time sleeper of the vintage should drink nicely for 15+ years.

Crushed blackberry and Christmas pudding aromas. Full-bodied with silky tannins and very pretty fruit on the finish. Gorgeous. -JS

The vineyard is planted to 80% merlot 15% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon with an average age of 25 years. The aromas here are more classical in style and do not show the forward fruit of others from the appellation. The bouquet is primarily of firm earth with hints of bittersweet chocolate though a bit of ripe fruit can be coaxed out of the glass with some air. With very textural tannins this wine should age well for 10-15 years.
