This is from a bio-dynamic trial block planted circa 1954 and you really need to see the top of the screwcap here: it has a 6 speed gear shift pattern embossed on it! What I like most about this wine is its sense of buoyancy and freshness - quite unlike many sweet and stolid Barossa Shiraz - it fairly bursts with flavour and vibrancy. It tastes of boysenberry cranberry and blackberry - juicy and sweet - squeezed and crushed - backed with toasty coffee oak and something of a Scorched Peanut bar flavour. Has some stinky charry bits showing too as a young wine but they should settle. Tannins are deceptively firm and lightly chewy. At the price you might expect a full throttle wine offering plenty of pounds per square inch - this is a sleeker more medium bodied offering and none the worse for it either. --Gary Walsh

Purple-colored it has an alluring bouquet of damp earth lavender pepper bacon and blueberry. Full-bodied on the palate it has a glossy texture layered flavors bordering on opulent incipient complexity plenty of depth and richness and a long fruit-filled finish. It can be enjoyed now but will drink well for a decade. --Jay Miller

Focused juicy and effusive with its notes of black cherry roasted red pepper and savory spice this isn't a heavy wine but it's persistent as the finish extends. Best from 2011 through 2018. 100 cases imported. --Harvey... Deep brooding aromas of cherry pit blackcurrant licorice espresso and dried violet. Spicy palate-numbing cherry and dark berry flavors are refreshingly bitter and sharply focused with fine-grained tannins adding grip. Juicy and subtly sweet on the finish which strongly echoes the spice notes and clings with excellent clarity and persistence. This will repay patience. --Josh Raynolds

Effusive and intense aromas of loamy earth dusty pepper spice and cloves. Medium-bodied with dark spices at the forefront gently tangy fruit opening to reveal high-toned black cherry roasted fruits esspresso and a bit of smoke. The medium length tannin-free finish shows soft tapering fruit and a haunting smoky note. Great example of the new savory style of Barossa shiraz. From a 58 year old block of biodynamically farmed shiraz vines.
