(93+) Not surprisingly, the 2008 Bonnes-Mares is one of the most backward wines in the cellar, but its quality is very much in evidence despite its reticent nature today. The bouquet is deep and superb, as it offers up scents of dark berries, black cherries, espresso, bitter chocolate, woodsmoke and a stunningly complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and ripely tannic, with great structure, a rock solid core of fruit, tangy acids and impressive length and grip on the still quite primary finish. This will be excellent. (Drink between 2018-2060)
