Very clean and pure the 2008 Domaine La Millière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Unique is a mid-weight elegant drinker with blackberry and raspberry fruit subtle spice and licorice aromatics. Medium bodied with a light balanced texture ripe fruit and a clean finish this delicious wine will drink beautifully over the next 6 to 8 years. This bottle was followed over two days and it fleshed out beautifully on day two. A blend of 60% Grenache 10% Mourvèdre 10% Syrah 10% Cinsault and 10% Counoise. - Jeb Dunnuck

Michel Arnaud continues to fashion beautiful wines and has certainly eclipsed the general level of quality for the vintage with his 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes. From the estate's 28+ acres of vines this blend of 60% Grenache and the rest equal parts Syrah Mourvedre Cinsault and Counoise aged in concrete tanks and foudre exhibits a dark ruby/plum color along with peppery spicy black cherry and black currant notes intermixed with a hint of graphite. Lush round generous and hitting most of the sweet spots on the palate it is a hedonistic Chateauneuf du Pape with more weight and richness than most of its peers. Consume it over the next 5-7 years.
