The 2008 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is incredibly fine in this vintage, probably because of the addition of a new Riserva from this vineyard into the lineup. Dark red fruit, flowers, mint and spices flow from this graceful, refined Barolo. It will be interesting to see where the 2008 goes from here. I can’t say the 2008 is a very typical Bric del Fiasc because it is more finesse than power, but it is a very beautiful wine just the same. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2033. - AG

This classic year was saved by a fine September, and though some wines have very firm tannins, Scavino's 2008 is now approachable. The nose, packed with red fruits, is refined and pure. The palate is marked by the wine's clarity of fruit and precision, while the tannins are integrated and supported by sufficient acidity. Showing finesse rather than power, it's drinking well now, though will hold. Balanced and long, with a fresh, limpid finish.
