(93+) Currently, the 2008 Pichon-Baron is showing even better than the 2009, as the oak has already fully integrated into the body of the wine and the balance here is now impeccable. The bouquet is deep, complex and really lovely, as it delivers scents of black cherries, cassis, cigar smoke, a nice touch of young cabernet “weediness”, coffee, fine soil tones and toasty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and really classy, with fine focus and balance, firm tannins and excellent length and grip on the poised and classy finish. Really a classic vintage for Pichon Longueville. (Drink between 2020-2060)
