93+ The 2008 Clos Vougeot from Joseph Drouhin, which I did not have an opportunity to taste in November, was predictably excellent at the Les Grands Jours tastings. The bouquet is deep, complex and vibrant, as it offers up scents of red and black cherries, espresso, fresh herb tones, woodsmoke, incipient notes of the game to come, lovely soil tones and a judicious framing of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and classically reserved, with fine mid-palate depth, a great core of fruit, fine-grained tannins and excellent length and grip on the tangy finish. A lovely Clos Vougeot.
