Ripe and very sleek with a dense core of cassis blackberry and anise framed by violet and spice. The long finish drips with juicy fruit and subtle toast with a flash of iron boding well for cellaring. Shows great... Vivid ruby. Enticing aromas of raspberry dried flowers and spice cake. Sweet and penetrating offering sappy flavors of red and dark berries candied flowers and chewing tobacco. Certainly a success in the vintage the deep plum colored 2008 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape a blend of 30% Mourvèdre 30% Grenache 10% Syrah 10% Counoise 4% Cinsault and the rest and assortment of varieties... Certainly a success in the vintage the deep plum colored 2008 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape a blend of 30% Mourvèdre 30% Grenache 10% Syrah 10% Counoise 4% Cinsault and the rest and assortment of varieties sports fresh edgy aromas of licorice-laced black cherries rolled stones smoked game and wild herbs (lavender thyme) on the nose. Fairly open knit with upfront fruit and good complexity on the nose this fleshes out beautifully with air possessing medium+ body a silky streamlined texture vibrant acidity and a classy finish. One of the few Beaucastels I'd recommend drinking in its first decade (or so) of life this should evolve over the next 2 to 4 years and drink well through 2020.

The 2008 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape is one of the few outstanding wines produced in this vintage. More evolved than Beaucastel's wines tend to be it reveals a healthy dark plum/ruby color notes of licorice meat juices... All thirteen varieties-red and white-go into this Chateauneuf du Pape blend. Muted red core with a soft red/purple rim. Showing ripe fruit yet retaining freshness and elegance the nose boasts aromas of red cherry... All thirteen varieties-red and white-go into this Chateauneuf du Pape blend. Muted red core with a soft red/purple rim. Showing ripe fruit yet retaining freshness and elegance the nose boasts aromas of red cherry blackberry tar and cola. The palate is replete with fresh picked strawberry flavors as well as hints of white pepper and spice. A very pretty wine this fruit-driven effort should prove to be a good for early drinking. Enjoy now through 2018.
