Wine Enthusiast, February 2012

Minty new wood aromas on a wine that shows both great tannins and sweet wood. The fruit is still to show but promises fresh plum flavors that will be delicious and juicy. Ripe concentrated wine. R.V.

TheWineCellarInsider.com, November 2023

Continuing to develop nicely, the wine blends layers of ripe, opulent fruits with minerality, flowers, espresso, and licorice. There is length, complexity, and lift in the waves of fruit on the palate and in the finish...

jamessuckling.com, April 2012

Aromas of blueberries and minerals with hints of dried flowers. Full body, with chewy tannins and a bright finish. Structured on the finish and should open up nicely with age. Fresh. Better after 2017.

The Beau-Sejour Becot vineyard is situated on the western plateau of Saint-Emilion, in the old parish of Saint-Martin de Mazerat. The estate covers 18.5 hectares of which 16.52 hectares are planted with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (24%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) on chalky soil with fossilized starfish. The average age of the vines is 40 years old and the fruit is harvested by hand.

This wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in 80-100% new barrels depending on the vintage. It then ages in the cellar for 16 to 18 months at constant temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. Annual production is approximately 60,000 bottles.
