janeanson.com, November 2022

Love this 2009, it is so much Gloria at its best - plump black fruits, black cherry, damson, generous without overplaying its hand, offering signature St Julien mixed with a subtle glamour. The fruits are given depth and...

Decanter, February 2019

One of the best value St-Juliens, this is an estate that was beginning to come in to its own around 2009, and it shows extremely well here. The tannins increase a touch as you head north in the Médoc, filling the glass...

Neal Martin's Wine Journal, July 2013

Served blind at the Southwold 2009 tasting. I was mean with my score at first. Tasted blind it felt a little aggressive, but the more it remained in my glass the more I can to appreciate it (one yearns for a decanter and...

Ripe and fleshy, generous yet balanced, this is a very attractive Médoc wine that's good to drink now or hold.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2019

Medium garnet colored, the 2009 Gloria rolls out of the glass with alluring scents of potpourri, Black Forest cake, Morello cherries and raspberry compote with touches of rose hip tea, cinnamon stick and lavender. Medium...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, February 2012

Medium.full bodied with fresh blackberry, chocolate and cherry scents, this supple textured, ripe, sweet wine will compete with many classified growths in a blind tasting. At just under $40, this blend of 61% Cabernet...

Chateau Gloria is one-of-a-kind, created by Henri Martin who purchased plots piece-by-piece, but exclusively from crus classified in 1855. The 50 hectare vineyard spans three areas: the middle of Beychevelle, the west of Saint-Julien and, on the north, on the border of Pauillac.

The vines include 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot on Gunzian gravel soil over a layer of clay and sand. Average vine age is 40 years.

Chateau Gloria also has a second wine, Chateau Peymartin, produced using the estate's youngest vines.

Chateau Gloria is harvested by hand, with traditional vinification and fermentation in heat-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine matures for 14 months in casks, 40% of them new. Recent vintages have featured jammy fruit, typically prune and black currant, with rich but approachable tannins.
