The overt forward fruit is nicely buttressed by the wine's underlying minerality and crystalline purity. The 2009 is juicy and oily but without being overwhelming. A clean vibrant finish rounds things out nicely. The 2009 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. Anticipated maturity: 2011- 2019. -A.G.

Rich powerful and dry with terrific depth to its lemon white peach and stone flavors. A densely packed broad Corton-Charlemagne with serious underlying structure. The classically dry finish saturates the palate with pineapple and crushed stone. Should be long-lived in the context of the year. 93+

A fresh ripe elegant and quite floral nose evidences hints of green apple pear and mildly exotic yellow fruit aromas that are trimmed in discreet wood toast. The rich full-bodied and mouth coating broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent concentration and power and finally culminate in an explosive and fantastically long if somewhat chewy finish. This is perhaps a bit less elegant than it usually is but I suspect that as the underlying material which is exceptionally dense resolves that it will become more refined with age. Impressive and the supporting acidity is perfectly well integrated.

The 2009 Corton-Charlemagne from Bonneau du Martray is currently in a very nice point of its evolution for current consumption, wafting from the glass in a mix of white peach, pineapple, lanolin, chalk, a touch of crème... The 2009 Corton-Charlemagne from Bonneau du Martray is currently in a very nice point of its evolution for current consumption, wafting from the glass in a mix of white peach, pineapple, lanolin, chalk, a touch of crème patissière, orange zest and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a good core, bright, framing acids and very good grip and focus on the long and wide open finish. A very strong 2009 white Burgundy, with a 1992-like personality. 2014-2025.
