The 23- to 35-year-old vines were hand-picked over two weeks; the wine was wild yeast-fermented and spent nine months in new French oak that barely intrudes so intense and focused is the mix of grapefruit white peach and mineral flavours of the magnificently long and fresh palate. A wine of exceptional poise and purity.

An outstanding wine with mealy toasty nougat and peanut brittle aromasand a wild balsamic overtone. Full-bodied with a refined palate and amazing depth and persistence.-Huon Hooke

The 2009 Kevin John Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented and aged for 9 months in new and 1 year old French barriques. The nose is youthfully mute revealing delicate to moderately pronounced notes of cashews yeast extract clover honey on toast and crushed stones over white peaches and spiced apple slices. Medium bodied satiny and with a good backbone of crisp acidity the palate offers layers of stone fruit and savory flavors finishing long and minerally. Drink it 2013 to 2019+.

Screw cap. 13.5% alcohol. Drink now and over the next decade.

Smoky orchard fruit flavors show good density and are lifted by tangy acidity. A sweet melon note emerges with air and carries through the very long smoky and penetrating finish. There's a refreshing bitter overtone here that will make this wine flexible at the table.
