This is completely different from the Bienvenues as here the nose is restrained to the point of being mute though aggressive swirling eventually liberates grudging notes of white flowers peach lemon and pear along with the classic mineral notes. By contrast there is plenty of personality to the intensely mineral-inflected and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that culminate in a hugely long finish. This palate staining effort is also very stylish and the class of Chevalier is on display. - Comments: Don't miss!

The 2009 Chevalier-Montrachet has some of the richness of the Bienvenues but with the energy of the Batard. It possesses lovely balance an understated personality and fine textural elegance. Anticipated maturity: 2013+
