Perhaps this rich, generous vintage did not quite suit the crisp, tense style of Denis Dubourdieu’s Barsac? Compared to others in this blind tasting, it comes across as more muted on the nose with scents of beeswax, marmalade and lanolin, though the Sauvignon Blanc is very expressive. The palate is very well-balanced on the entry with crisp acidity cutting through the viscous texture. The finish is rounded in the mouth, offering attractive notes of lemon sherbet and orange essence. Everything is very “contained” at the moment, although the tension suggests that it should age well. I suspect this will need a decade before it really blossoms. Drink 2020-2040. - Neal Martin

Quite high-pitched now with lots of green plum and green almond notes laced with bright honeysuckle and heather. The background shows more lemon shortbread grapefruit pâte de fruit and persimmon while the finish offsets the sweetness with a lively quinine note. Distinctive but will need time to come together. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Best from 2015 through 2030. -JM

Glyceral fat and exotic with tropical fruit honey and spice flavors of great richness. If anything this gained in texture and concentration as it opened in the glass displaying emerging hints of wasabe and vanillin oak. Finishes wonderfully pure spicy and long with compelling sweetness.

A fresh and aromatic bouquet sets off this light, dancing style of wine. It has acidity and a lemon curd flavor, proving to be sweet and citrusy at the same time. It's developing well.

Heady aromas of blood orange and floral nectar notes seduce on the nose. Still tight on the palate yet lithe and ethereal in texture this release has more in common with rich dry white wines from this vintage than its botrytized dense neighbors. A testament to the wine's balance and overall integration. Lovely and racy right now and certainly over the next 3-5 years before developing aged characteristics.
