The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers is rich, round and utterly impeccable. There is virtually no perception of tannin as this deep, fleshy wine opens up in the glass. A brooding and quite restrained nose displays very cool in fact almost cold dark berry fruit aromas that possess the classic Gevrey markers of pungent earth humus and sauvage nuances. There is superb intensity to the powerful serious and mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the austere mouth coating and impressively persistent finish. This should be genuinely outstanding if given the substantial amount of cellar time necessary.
