This is also notably ripe yet very cool with an unusually elegant airy upper register notes of wild red berry fruit crushed stone and freshly ground pepper. There is a lovely floral character to the intense and well-detailed broad-shouldered flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the linear driving explosive and wonderfully long finish. This is not a truly big Chambertin but it is powerful and serious and more important still impeccably well-balanced.

The 2009 Chambertin is a big powerful wine that sits on the edge of over ripeness. The Chambertin is literally bursting at the seams with fruit.
