The 2009 Beaune Clos des Mouches is quite round and seamless for a young Beaune. Yellow stone fruits and minerals are some of the notes that wrap around the palate in this striking white from Drouhin. I especially like to focus and energy of the finish. Though fabulous today I am very curious to see where the 2009 might be headed over the coming years. In 2009 the estate picked the fruit from this site in nine separate passes. The last vestiges of reduction detract only mildly from the otherwise nuanced and well-layered aromas of peach citrus and white flowers. The rich flavors retain a fine sense of definition as well as a subtle minerality on the suave silky and explosively long finish. This is a wine of harmony and grace that should age well.
