This is one of the most open, approchable young Terra di Lavoros I have ever tasted. The wine shows good intensity in its dark fruit, with layers of ash, smoke, crushed flowers and minerals that develop in the glass. The 2009 is a pretty, approachable Terra di Lavoro that will make a great introduction for readers who are new to the wine and don't want to wait for some of the more important vintages to come around. Terra di Lavoro is 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso. The 2009 spent 14 months in French oak barrels, 70% new.

Winery

Fattoria Galardi

Galardi is a family-owned estate formed by four cousins in 1991. The territory covers a volcanic soil of great potential sloping down to the sea. With the family’s commitment to the transformation of the vineyard and cellar practices, the estate produced its first fruit with the harvest of 1993. The result is a wine that, despite its youth, was already showing on its debut all the expressive potential of a great wine. 1994 marks the definitive birth of “Terra di Lavoro".
