Cropped at 3.2tons/ha and raised entirely in French oak (45% new) the delectable 2009 Pinot Noir has a lifted bouquet of bright red cherries red currant and a hint of dried blood. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and a lovely caressing texture in the mouth fine tension and poise with crisp red-berried fruits on the shimmering finish. Drink 2012-2017+ -NM

Hints of forest bark and soft menthol grace the finish while the soft tannins and balanced acidity carry long into the close. - L.B.

An inviting ruby hue accompanies a smoky intoxicating perfume of white pepper cola candied ginger spice and red berry. Cedar and sandalwood aromas accent a light hint of earth but the smooth velvety texture soon take over with ripe red fruit that's balanced by subtle tannin and lively acid. Enjoy now with duck or a hearty mushroom-inspired dish. That said with up to 5-7 additional years in bottle this will continue to improve upon an already impressive showing.

Dried red fruit and mint aromas cascade deftly into a tangy palate framed by crisp acidity and anchored by mild tannins. The finish is preceded by notes of ripe raspberry and rounded out nicely with a brambly earthy texture. Easily the best South African pinot noir I have tasted both in terms of its food-friendliness and bold yet pleasant fruit. This has the texture and stuffing to age gracefully for another five years.

Deep garnet core with a dark red rim. The complexity is immediately apparent with notes of red currant black tea smoked pork belly and spice along with hints of strawberry rhubarb pie minerals and dusty cedar. Medium bodied although the concentrated fruit packs a zinger of a punch. Long and persistent finish with silky tannins and a liveliness that implies its aging potential. Pair with duck roast pork or game meats tonight or cellar and follow over the next decade.
