Reviews for 2009 Karthauserhof (Christoph Tyrell) Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg Riesling Spatlese

WS 94

Intense and sleek with concentrated nectarine lime and slate flavors that give this plenty of verve. Quite smoky midpalate with a powerful seamless finish that oozes minerality. Drink now through 2030. -KM

Tyrell's 2009 Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg Riesling Spatlese (there is only a single bottling of this name) smells of fresh lime lingonberry honeysuckle and a surprising whiff of petrol. Loaded with generous juicy ripe melon to which citrus subtle salinity and a tart berry edge lend animation and invigoration while persistent floral perfume enhances a sense of wafting delicacy this should remain delightful for at least the next 15 years and hopefully longer. -David Schildknecht
